HISTORY

The Hôtel de la Fleur de Lis has a rich history.

“On the night of 28-29 February 1848, the federal flag was raised here. The Locle patriots defended it and kept it in place. This act led to the immediate proclamation of the Republic in Le Locle and was the signal for the Neuchâtel Revolution”: an inscription on the façade bears witness to the turbulent times that the site experienced.

Burnt down four years earlier, the building was rebuilt and for a long time housed an inn.

Today, it has been restored to its original purpose. With the help of the Swiss Confederation, the Canton of Neuchâtel and the City of Le Locle, the Savoir-Faire Le Locle (SFLL) cooperative has restored the building while respecting its architectural past and meeting the most stringent criteria required of a hotel of this kind.
