ACTIVITIES & TOURISM

THE REGION

Everything here exudes the spirit of watchmaking and the art of precision. The town planning and architecture that surround Le Locle are imbued with this three-century-old activity.

In 2009, UNESCO recognised these unique qualities by awarding its precious label to Le Locle and its neighbouring town of La Chaux-de-Fonds.

Shaped by and for watchmakers, the first city – from a historical point of view – in the Neuchâtel mountains is nestled in a valley at an altitude of almost a thousand metres. Its 10,000 inhabitants live in harmony with the surrounding nature.

Visitors to the area will find the surrounding forests and pastures a magnificent place to enjoy a wide range of leisure activities… before taking advantage of the region’s varied cultural offering.

CULTURE

The Neuchâtel mountains offer a wide range of cultural activities covering the performing arts, fine arts, the history of the region and watchmaking.

NATURE

As soon as you cross the hills around Le Locle, you’ll find a festival of nature all around you: spruce and beech forests to stroll through, wooded pastures to enjoy a “torrée”, mushrooms to pick, wildlife to observe, the Doubs river to hike along, and the Jura ridges to survey. Here, nature is omnipresent and easily accessible.

SPORTS

Depending on the season, there’s something for everyone in the region: in summer you can take a dip in the town swimming pool, or go for a walk or cycle ride (the hotel is bike-friendly), while in winter the snow-covered arms of the hotel are open to skaters, cross-country skiers and snowshoers.”
